States of Matter

Matter occurs in three states: liquid, gas, and solid. Solids have definite volume and shape. Gases have no definite volume or shape. Liquids have definite volume, but no definite shape. Ex: Ice, water, and steam are made of the same chemical composition, but exist in different states.
