Adam Carberry received his B.S. in Material Science Engineering from Alfred University in 2002. He received his M.S. in Chemistry and Ph.D. in Engineering Education both from Tufts University in 2005 and 2010, respectively. While at Tufts, Adam won a Tufts University 2010 Presidential Award for Citizenship and Public Service for his work with the Tufts Student Teacher Outreach Mentorship Program (STOMP). After finishing his Ph.D. at Tufts, Adam went on to Arizona State University to work as a post-doctoral research associate with Dr. Ann McKenna in the College of Technology & Innovation's Department of Engineering. This August, Adam will become faculty in the same department.

In his spare time, Adam plays ultimate frisbee for a Phoenix-based open club team called Sprawl and continues to be an avid Red Sox, Celtics, Pariots, and Bruins fan.

Research Interests

My current research interests include engineering epistemological beliefs, contextualized engineering self-efficacy, conceptions of modeling in design, teaching sustainable engineering, student engineering design processes, and standards-based assessment. My previous work conducted as part of my dissertation focused on engineering service-learning and was a characterization analysis of students participating in engineering service experiences (in-class service-learning and out of class public service) across the country.
